Sunflower Oil
Sunflower Oil is the vegetable oil produced by Sunflower seeds. Native to North America, Sunflowers are a major crop in North and South America as well as Southern and Eastern Europe.
Sunflowers are grown in many countries including the Liverpool Plains region in Australia.
Product Characteristics
Sunflower Oil is low in saturated fat and contains a high level of poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Polyunsaturated fatty acids are known to assist in lowering blood cholesterol, thus helping to reduce the incidence of heart disease.
Uses & Applications
Sunflower Oil is an excellent general purpose culinary oil with a light flavour profile. It is commonly used in sauces, salad dressings, marinades and mayonnaise and is suitable for shallow frying. Combined with the perception of Sunflower Oil as a healthy alternative, these characteristics make it attractive to a wide range of consumers and food manufacturers alike.
