Butter Alternatives

The flavour profile of butter produced in different countries can vary greatly, with a range of factors impacting upon taste. For this reason, many generic butter flavours fail to remind us of the butter we are accustomed to.

Butter substitutes are liquid and semi-solid vegetable oils with rich, natural butter flavours which are representative of the butter produced by grass-fed cows. Masterol Foods also offers a range of application-specific functional ingredients for the baking industry which are available with added butter flavours.

Product Characteristics
Butter substitutes feature far lower levels of saturated and trans fats than butter. Levels of mono- and poly-unsaturated fats, widely considered to be healthier than saturated fats, are much higher.

Uses & Applications
Butter substitutes can be used in many applications in the bakery, confectionery and food manufacturing industries. In food service, they can be used in shallow frying, basting and grilling and as ingredients in a wide range of recipes. Butter substitutes are versatile in nature and do not require refrigeration.
