Soy Oil

Soy Oil (also known as simply ‘Vegetable Oil’) is produced through the extraction of oil from Soybeans. Soybeans are a major crop in North and South America, China and India.

Product Characteristics
At up to 10%, Soy Oil is relatively high in Omega-3 essential fatty acids compared to most other vegetable oils. Soy Oil features more than double the level of saturates found in Canola Oil.

Uses & Applications
Soy Oil is used in a wide range of culinary applications and as shortening in baked foods. Although used as a deep frying medium, it is not well-suited to this application due to its high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids. This causes the oil to oxidise more readily than some alternatives. While suitable for use in a food service context as culinary oil, Soy Oil typically does not find an application in products which require a long shelf life.
